ABOUT THRIVE SPEAKERS

THEY SPEAK LIFE!

We carefully vet and select those who hold the mic at Thrive Conference. The ones who make the cut speak life and move us forward mentally.

How do we discover our speakers? Mostly through personal and industry contacts but we now have a form on our website through which potential speakers now contact us to discuss speaking interests. Do we have budget for our speakers? Yes, we do although sometimes the budget value is zero dollars but we try.

If you will like to speak at THRIVE, then it is important to know the qualities of speakers that we look out for. The section below sheds more light about this.

WHAT QUALITIES DO WE LOOK FOR?

JUST A FEW CRITICAL ONES.

COGNITIVE, EMOTIONAL AND COMPASSIONATE EMPATHY

First-generation Canadians are different and while we appreciate that not everyone will understand us, we expect anyone speaking to us to have empathy for our causes. This is a critical connection between us and our speakers.

EXPERTISE

You must have expertise in the subject area that you want to speak about. Having theoretical knowledge is a good place to start as a speaker but for you to hold the mic at Thrive Conference, you must have a lived, practical experience about your topic.

PASSION

Beyond knowledge, a THRIVE speaker must communicate passionately when holding the mic. When you have expertise in your subject area and have empathy for our community, passionately communicating actionable insights to us will be a breeze.

AUTHENTICITY and vulnerability

Simply put, we don't like fakes. When you are with us, there is nothing to show off even though we like to celebrate the success of our members and the people we look up to. However, we want our speakers to come clean and be real with us. No fluffs.

A GOOD STORYTELLER

We love listening to great stories. Stories that make us laugh, cry and move to the edge of our seats. Ultimately, we want speakers who can use their personal stories (preferred) to convey their messages to us and move us to action. That's what we want.
